Amazon Prime to showcase PL football

EPL matches will be going to live stream on Prime Video in the UK from the 2019/20 season. Amazon has purchased one of the broadcasting rights packages in a significant move for the game.

It will show every game from the first round of midweek fixtures in December and all 10 matches on 26 December as part of a three-year deal.

Matches will be available free to Amazon Prime’s UK members.BT Sport picked up the other unsold package of 20 games for £90m.

The Premier League has concluded the sales process for all its live broadcasting rights in the UK and Ireland for the three seasons 2019/20 to 2021/22.

Mixed response from fans

Fans might have to cough up £966-a-year to watch every televised Premier League game.

Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore is in positive mood regarding the future of live televised action.

You will need a Prime membership, which costs £79 a year or £7.99 a month.

Prime is accessible on any Smart TV, mobile device or through an Amazon Fire TV Stick.

Amazon already broadcasts the US Open tennis, ATP World Tour Tennis events and NFL games.
